Ho, May 16, GNA- Mr Anthony Adjavor, the Principal Technical Officer of Ho Leprosarium, on Thursday appealed to philanthropists and organisation to assist in caring for the 21 inmates at the facility. He made the appeal when the Volta Regional headquarters of Ghana Telecom (GT) donated 200 Ghana cedis to the Leprosarium and promised to give additional 300 Ghana cedis. Mr Adjavon said since government stopped feeding the lepers, the Polyclinic at Ho, located at the leprosarium, was financing the feeding of the lepers but had to stop because of financial constraints. He said workers of the Leprosarium also contributed to towards the feeding of the lepers. Mr Paul Evans-Amuzu, head of Volta Regional branch of GT, said the donation formed part of activities marking "the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day," observed under the theme: "Connecting persons with disabilities: ICT opportunities for all." He said it was also in fulfillment of the company's social responsibility to disadvantage people in society. Mr Paul Evans-Amuzu appealed to the media to help draw the attention of the public to the plight of the lepers.
