Ho, July 21, GNA - The Ho Municipality will undergo a major face-lift in time for the celebration of the country's 50th Jubilee celebrations next year.
As a prelude, the Municipal Assembly has started partial reconstruction of some major roads in a around the Ho township. The Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Mawutor Goh announced this when he addressed the second ordinary meeting of the fourth session of the Assembly at Ho on Thursday.
Highlights of the facelift would include the reconstruction of a Jubilee School and a strategically located Jubilee monument to welcome visitors to the Ho Township.
Mr Goh said the Municipality would also re-design a road and name it 'Jubilee Street'.
He stated that the beautification of the township would include the planting of green plants and flowers along major streets, to be named for easy identification.
Mr Goh said the town's drainage system would be improved and that garbage bins would also be placed at vantage places. He announced that the Assembly had achieved a 37 per cent increase in revenue generation, following the re-constitution of the Ho Urban Council.
He said plans were far advanced to re-organize all Zonal councils to also perform effectively and called on all stakeholders in the Assembly to remain committed to their work. In a welcome address, Mr Simon Agboga, Presiding Member appealed to stakeholders in the decentralization process to give due recognition to assembly members.
He said that was the only way members could be motivated to work harder and attract other people to get involved in the decentralization process.
Mr Agboga called on members of the Assembly who would not be part of the next assembly to remain good advocators of the assembly concept at the grassroots.
