Hohoe, June 30, GNA - Mr John Peter Amewu, the Hohoe District Chief Executive, has said the assembly would soon publish its audited accounts in the media.
He said on Thursday that this has become necessary because of the public's that the assembly was corrupt.
Mr Amewu said this at the General Assembly Meeting of the Hohoe Civic Union, an umbrella organization of 63 civic society institutions. He said his administration would not countenance acts that would further impoverish or engender the developmental aspiration of the people including fraud, embezzlement or misappropriations.
Mr Albert Agra, Presiding Member of the Assembly, said it would collaborate with the Civic Union in tax and revenue collection. Mr Isaac Abrokwa, Deputy Zonal Coordinator of the Government Accountability Improved Trust (GAIT 2) in-charge of the Southern Zone, said public accounts could not be classified information and urged public institutions to be flexible in providing information. Mr Anthony Kumah, Chairman of the Union said the novelty of the "Friday Wear" concept should be embraced to promote the local textile industry and be replicated in other sectors of the production chain to create job avenues for the teeming artisans.
