Accra, June 3, GNA - The National Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC,) on Wednesday urged Ghanaians to re-dedicate themselves to the principles of June 4 and support the government to successfully implement the agenda of a better Ghana. The NDC said the June 4 uprising "ushered the principle and practice of probity and accountability into the political lexicon of Ghana".
A statement signed by Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, General Secretary of the NDC, said the party salutes "the gallant architects of that event that had without doubt left a permanent imprint, on the politics of our dear country.
The statement said: "We particularly salute our great and indomitable Founder, Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings, whose unflinching commitment and passion for accountability and probity in public life, led him and his colleagues to sacrifice their lives to lead that great event that has changed the political landscape of this country forever." It said as a political party that traced its origin to the values, virtues and principles of June 4, "we wish the new administration. to move full throttle to ensure that all those who are found to have abused their office for selfish gains in the last NPP (New Patriotic Party) administration are brought to speedy trial without any further hesitation". 03 June 09
