Hon Sekyere Research Centre commissioned at Domeabra D/A Basic School

Assembly Member for Domeabra, Stephen Sekyere Assembly Member for Domeabra, Stephen Sekyere

The Domeabra D/A Basic School in the Amansie Central District has recently inaugurated the Hon. Sekyere Research Centre, an initiative designed to enhance educational resources in the community. The new centre is equipped with an ICT lab, a library hall, and a robotic practical hall, providing students with access to modern learning tools that will help foster creativity, innovation, and academic growth.

Acheampong Godfred, the Project Director, highlighted the importance of the new facilities, emphasizing that the ICT lab and the robotic centre would play a crucial role in equipping students with the skills needed for the future. He also called on stakeholders, including NGOs, to support similar development projects in underdeveloped communities like Domeabra D/A Basic School, to bridge the educational gap.

Stephen Sekyere, the Assembly Member for Domeabra, shared the story behind the project’s realization.

He explained that a medical doctor from Obuasi, a friend of the community, had visited and recognized the urgent need for infrastructure development.

This visit inspired the doctor to lend his support to the construction of the research centre. Hon. Sekyere also reflected on his tenure as Assembly Member, noting that prior to his efforts, the community lacked a Junior High School (JHS), forcing children to travel long distances daily for their education.

His initiative to build a JHS in the community has since alleviated this challenge, and the establishment of the Hon. Sekyere Research Centre marks another significant step in improving educational opportunities for local children.

Bernard Tenuo, the SISO for the Fenaso-Fawoman Circuit at the Amansie Central Education Directorate, also praised the new robotic centre, expressing optimism that it would inspire students to develop new technologies and cultivate creative thinking.

He acknowledged the shortage of teachers at the school, which has been a challenge for effective teaching and learning. Despite this, he remains hopeful that the issue will be addressed and that more teachers will be posted to the school in the near future.
