Koforidua, May 30, GNA- The Management of the Eastern Regional Hospital, Koforidua, has appealed to mourners to desist from firing musketry at the hospital compound. He said the firing of the musketry within the hospital compound normally occurs during the collection of dead bodies by relations from the morgue.
The hospital warned that the sound of the firing could cause emotional stress to some of the patients on admission at the hospital and could worsen their conditions and in some cases lead to death as a result of shock.
This was contained in a press released issued by the hospital at Koforidua on Wednesday and signed by the Director of the Hospital, Dr Apori Obeng.
The release further explained that, the sound of the musketry could also cause panic among a section of the staff and visitors to the hospital and that could disturb the calm atmosphere required for effective work at the hospital.
The management of the hospital explained that, the fire of the gunpowder used for the musketry could also result in fire outbreak, especially at the mortuary because the chemical used for embalmment is highly combustive.
