Hotel Kufuor: CPP To State Position

The Central Committee of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) is likely to come clear on the CPP?s position on the ?Hotel Kufuor Saga? at its meeting today, July 14, 2005.

The ?Hotel Kufuor Saga? was once again ignited when the Minority divide Parliament at a news briefing, called for an Independent Multi-Partisan inquiry in the purchase of the Hotel by the son of the President, John Kufour Jnr.

The Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has already begun preliminary investigations into the issue, after which it would weight the merits of their findings to ascertain whether the issue demands a full scale inquiry by a panel.

The General Secretary of the CPP, Prof. Nii Noi Dowuna, stated in an interview that, the necessary investigations would have to be conducted for the presidency to be cleared or otherwise, with regards to the transaction for the purchase of the hotel facility.

On the issue of whether Parliament or CHRAJ should be allowed to conduct investigations in the allegations being levelled against the Presidency in the purchase of the hotel facility, Prof. Dowuna maintained that the investigation initiated by both bodies should not thwart the efforts of the other in unearthing the truth surrounding the purchase of the hotel.
