Hotel Kufuor: Some Investors sold their houses

Kweku Baako Blasts Journalists

Kweku Baako Jnr. the Managing Editor of the Crusading Guide newspaper has said that a lot of people parading as journalists do not carry out much investigations before going to press on issues they write on.

They have development the capacity to investigate', he contended. Mr Baako was responding to critics who saw him as na?ve concerning the Chief Kufuor hotel saga on Joy FM's Newsfile programme last Saturday.

Conceding that it was necessary for CHRAJ to investigate the saga as it has told the whole world of its intention to do, the ace journalist, noted for his investigative pedigree hinted that he had been privy to a lot of relevant documents and was ?absolutely confident that in no time, CHRAJ would come to the final conclusion that it has been a waste of public resources to proceed on this level'.

Throwing more light on the transaction, Mr Baako revealed that all the $3.5million did not come from the banks but rather $1.5 million had to be contributed by the individuals involved in the transaction. He said, one will be amazed at the difficulty in which these private individuals went through in raising money. Some had to sell their properties some in Ghana and abroad before the building could be presented as collateral.

Many of our journalist friends don't know this and they are not also checking," he added.

Speaking on the same platform the Deputy Minister for Tourism and the Modernisation of the Capital City, Mr Asamoah Boateng contended that it is a waste of time and resources to even launch an enquiry but CHRAJ as a constitutional body should have the right to investigate if there is a perceived public interested in an activity.

"This is because nobody has come out to impute any impropriety against the President". The Deputy Minister agreed with Mr Baako that the security issue was no issue at all.
