Hoteliers urged to set up gymnasium at their hotels

Kumasi, March 28, GNA - Mr Osei Hwedie, Proprietor of Super Seven Lodge at Abrepo-Asuogya in Kumasi, has said that it was time hoteliers introduced gymnasium at their hotels for their clients.

He indicated that such body building facility would go a long way to help guests to exercise their bodies, while at the hotel.

Speaking to a cross section of the press after the opening of a 280,000 pounds sterling facility at the lodge at the weekend, Mr Osei said the facility could also assist to eliminate boredom among visitors. He said he decided to invest in the leisure industry as a way to support tourism in the country after realising that there was peace and development in the country.

He commended President Kufuor and his government for ensuring peace and development in the country, stressing that, what a country needed to develop was peace and good governance.

Mr Osei, who called on Ghanaians outside to come home and invest, said the management of the lodge has decided to set aside 10 per cent of its profits to support needy but brilliant students in Kumasi annually. Mr Osei, a computer technician in Canada, noted that education was the bedrock of the development of every society and since the government alone cannot shoulder all the responsibility, he decided to initiate the idea to help.

He called on the Ghana Tourist Board (GTB) to continue to provide the needed education to people, who intend to go into tourism to boost the industry and raise more funds to enhance the development of the country.
