Hovering Air Force Helicopter Causes Anxiety At Tema

The hovering of a Ghana Air Force helicopter around site One, Site Five and part of the business centre in Community One, Tema at about 1000 hours on Thursday made residents, workers and market women to come out to find what was happening. It brought business activities within the area to a standstill, while people watched how it was manoeuvring.

The helicopter, which spent about 10 minutes hovering around was at a height a little above the Tema Municipal Assembly Administrative Block, which is the tallest building around the area. When it made an effort to land at the Akodzo School Park, a large number of on-lookers rushed to the place and the pilot apparently because of the people went up again. The helicopter hovered once more, left the area and went towards the Motorway Direction, at about 10:15 hours.

The Ghana Armed Forces later told the Ghana News Agency that the helicopter was carrying out an aerial reconnaissance at Teshie, Kaneshie and Makola and Tema Communities One and Two for LINTAS, an advertising company for a fee.

The GAF said an advertising agency, Lintas has been contracted by Unilever to promote a new product - Key Powder, a new soap, samples of which would be dropped at the locations the helicopter surveyed on August 24. The helicopter flew low to find out the feasibility of such an exercise.
