Former spokesperson for ex-president Jerry John Rawlings, Kofi Adams has revealed how he first met the former President, after which encounter he subsequently became spokesperson and protégé of the Rawlings’.

Kofi Adams, a former National Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), who served as spokesperson for the Rawlings’s for many years revealed, in an interview with Joy News, recently monitored by MyNewsGh.com, that he first met Mr Rawlings when he gave them a listening ear after a demonstration led by him( Kofi Adams) in 1995.

“Our very first encounter happened in a 1995 students’ demonstration led by me and some colleagues, we demonstrated because students were being affected by a lot of issues,” he disclosed.

According to him, contrary to widespread perceptions at the time that he was unapproachable and stern, JJ Rawlings, who was President at the time, not only gave them a listening ear but spoke to them with respect and empathy much to their admiration.

“We poured out our grievances to President Rawlings who calmly listened to us and comforted us, he went on to assure us that all issues affecting us will be dealt with and he delivered on his promise,” Kofi Adams revealed.

Mr Kofi Adams served as spokesperson for the Rawlings’s until in 2014 when he quit to help the NDC execute its campaign for the 2016 general elections.
