It is emerging that New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Abetifi in the Kwahu East district of the Eastern Region who doubles as Minister of State in charge of National Security, Byran Acheampong benefited from a huge software contract to manage the entire public sector payroll under the erstwhile John Mahama administration executed by Seth Terkper; MyNewsGh.com has filed.

Mr Bryan Acheampong is currently NDC’s number one ‘enemy’ for his onerous action of deploying a heavy-handed National Security team at Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election which saw NDC party members and MP beaten with many injuries recorded.

Details of the controversial contract awarded by then Finance Minister Seth Terkper to Bryan Acheampong’s Company first came to light in in February 2017 – exactly two years ago.

At the time,NPP member and anti-corruption activist Kwame A Plus alleged that the contract executed by Bryan Acheampong under NDC was dubious. He alleged that ghost names were created by the software to facilitate create, loot and share. He was consequently sued and they both parties are believed to have reached an out of court settlement.

New development on contract

While news of the juicy software contract appeared to be without any merit at first, some functionaries of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have confirmed the huge contract was indeed awarded to the National Security Minister Bryan Acheampong and it was in the region of GHC120million.

Former Member of Parliament for Adentan and former Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Enterprise Support (YES) Fund, Kojo Adu-Asare confirmed it while many of his followers with knowledge on the matter expressed regret.

He calls the decision to award the contract to Bryan Acheampong “daft”.

“Bryan Acheampong Has Forgotten it Was Seth Terkper’s NDC That Gave His Company The Payroll Contract. How Daft We Were…” he wrote.

Another former NDC MP for La Dadekotopon, Nii Amasa Namoale added: “They will not believe the Juicy Contract JM gave to NPP Hon Bryan Acheampong during our time. They have closed their minds to truth.”
