In the wake of the collapse of Menzgold, many Ghanaians are raising questions about how NAM1 had the privilege of meeting the President. Otumfuo, Chief Imam, and JAK endorsement’
While the visit to Akufo-Addo and pictures did not constitute an official endorsement of Menzgold from the Presidency, only Nana Appiah Mensah knew what he was up to.
Already, some aggrieved customers of the ‘Ponzi’ Gold-Trading hub Menzgold have are accusing President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei-Tutu II, Asantehene, His Eminence Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, National Chief Imam of Ghana and former President John Kufuor of being indirect accomplices of the Menzgold ‘scam’ as MyNewsGh.com reported last week.
The angry Menzgold customers are saying they were pushed to trust the gold dealership because of what they saw as an “endorsement” Nana Appiah Mensah got from these four powerful personalities in Ghana.
“For a man who had unexplained wealth, it was such meetings that were going to gain him legitimacy and acceptance and the President certainly contributed to giving a potential fraudster the legitimacy he needed.” one of them wailed.
“I have personally heard accounts of Menzgold clients who say the photo of NAM1 with the President convinced them that the business was genuine and that made them invest in it. And, can you really blame them when the NAM1 being condemned as a fraudster now was given access to the father of the land? ” a concerned Ghanaian, N.Y Obuoba wrote.
On President Kufuor’s part, JAK is alleged to have praised Menzgold when the dubious gold trading company gave him a customized gold monument medals with an engraved image of him on it during the launch of the three-day Art Festival at the Golden Tulip Hotel, Accra, on 1st June 2018.
The former president Kufuor even endorsed the creation of several of the Customized gold monument medals to be auctioned to raise funds for his 80 at 80 project (JAK foundation). The JAK foundation has gone quiet since the shutdown of Menzgold.
The Chief Imam and Otumfuo were believed to have hosted NAM 1 and received some support from him.
