Bee stings, while commonly associated with pain or allergic reactions, rarely result in paralysis.

However, Anne-Marie experienced an extraordinary complication after being stung by a bee, leaving her paralysed and diagnosed with Avascular Necrosis (AVN) of the hip.

Avascular necrosis is a disease that results from the temporary or permanent loss of blood supply to the bone.

When blood supply is cut off, the bone tissue dies and the bone collapses. If avascular necrosis happens near a joint, the joint surface may collapse, according to hopkinsmedicine.org.

It notes that over time, this can cause the collapse of the affected bone, severe pain, and limited mobility, which explains her urgent need for surgical intervention.

GHOne TV recently shared Anne-Marie’s story on their X page, stating, "Anne-Marie, paralyzed after a bee sting and diagnosed with Avascular Necrosis (AVN) of the hip, needed further surgery to save her leg".

The post also noted the success of her public appeal for financial support.

"Two months ago, she appealed for GH₵67,674 on 'Ento Woa Da,' and thanks to your generous support, we’ve been able to raise the funds for her surgery," it added.

With the funds now secured for her surgery, Anne-Marie has a renewed chance at recovery, offering hope that she can regain mobility and rebuild her life.
