I Lost My Girlfriend Doing Politics - Ablakwa

Deputy Information Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa in an interesting remark has revealed that he lost his girlfriend partaking in mainstream politics.

He said immediately after graduating from the university he joined the pro-NDC Committee for Joint Action (CJA) and the party’s communication team at a time when his colleagues and predecessors were aspiring to obtain higher education and white collar jobs.

Mr. Ablakwa who was addressing TEIN (Tertiary Education Institutions Network of the NDC) members at the EP University College in Ho noted that not only did he lose opportunities to get a higher education but his girlfriend as well. “I mean that very much, because I lost my girlfriend in the process,” he said.

“When we joined the CJA right after school…the NDC communications team, it was not a fashionable thing to do,” he told the students urging them to make similar sacrifices since his hard work had eventually paid off.

He noted that NDC youth should not take shortcuts but get their “hands dirty” for the party and the party will definitely reward them.

NDC Volta Regional Election Director, Gwapong Kudzo also urged the youth to take politics as their “work and business” adding that “if you don’t work for the party you will not get the appointment but if you work you will get the appointment.”

He tasked TEIN to study and research adequately to match the opposition in all issues. They should also be vigilant especially during the December elections to ensure the NDC retains power. Also in attendance was Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Henry Ametefe who chaired the occasion, NDC Deputy Youth Organizer, Kofi Fonu, and Deputy Transport Minister, Dzifa Ativor among others.
