Honourable Enoch Teye Mensah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo-Prampram and Minister of Employment and Social Welfare has given a strong signal of wearing the cassock sooner than anticipated.
Speaking to The Moment at Alisa Hotel, North Ridge after a day’s workshop by the Institute of Human Resource Management Practitioners, he revealed that he now possess Master’s degree in Theology adding that very soon he will study for a doctorate in theology as well.
Giving account of his religious background, Hon ET Mensah hinted that he has been a stanch member of the Methodist church of Ghana from his youthful days and hopes to enter the pulpit to proclaim his maker in due course.
“Let me tell you in clear terms, I have been worshiping with the main Methodist church all this while, and very soon you will see me before the pulpit”, he indicated.
Most Ghanaians may be surprised by this pronouncement from the former Youth and Sports Minister as a result of his combative political history dating back to the revolutionary days.
In the political arena, no one cans deny that Hon. ET Mensah has done a lot for his constituents and mother Ghana, as a cadre, through his appointment as a Mayor of Accra, member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo-Prampram, to the longest serving Minister of Youth and Sports, and now Minister of Employment and Social Welfare.
When the political history of Ghana comes up to be written, his name would be conspicuously inscribed as one of the longest serving legislators Ghana ever produced with others such as; ASK Bagbin, John Tia, Paapa Owusu Ankomah, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu among others.
“At the end of the day, one must remember his make and draw closer to him. After hanging my political boots and gloves, I shall win souls for the Lord who has been so good to me”, he said.
