I Will Kill You..NPP Chairman Tells Secretary

Some executives of the Ashaiman Constituency of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) are leaving in a state of fear and anxiety following death threats on their lives.

Behind these death threats is alleged to be the chairman of the Constituency, Alhaji Papaye, who is alleged to have hired some thugs known as Al-Qaeda to deal ruthlessly with any executive member who opposes his decision or ideas.

As a result of this the party has quickly moved its weekly meetings from the chairman’s house to the party’s constituency office. Currently, the party is absolutely divided and some NPP think tanks in that constituency are worried over the party chances in 2012.

The root cause to this alleged death threat, according to the Accra Times’ own investigations, is the appointment of the communications and Research Directors to the constituency executives.

Whilst the chairman, Alhaji Papaye, wants his favourites to fill these two positions through his own authoritative means, other executives think the chairman’s decision was wrong. At the Greater Accra NPP congress held in December last year at the Trade Fair, in Accra, Alhaji Papaye and some of the Ashaiman NPP executives nearly exchanged blows at the auditorium where voting was going on over the same positions.

The incident occurred when the chairman wanted the people he had chosen for those positions to take part in the elections, which he was prevented by the constituency secretary, Mr Emmanuel Amoako-Mensah and Mr George Inkoom.
