New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong says has resolved to apologise to former president Kufuor for wrongly accusing him a few days ago.
The legislator is reported to have alleged that Mr Kufuor in 2007 walked him out of his private residence for not backing Alan Kyeremateng’s presidential bid at the time.
Mr Agyapong said he vowed not to step a foot in the house of Mr Kufuor again after the said incident had occurred.
In a swift response, the former president, in a statement signed by his special aide discounted the report and described the accusations as absolute “falsehood and malicious”.
“… No such discussion took place between Mr Kufuor and Ken Agyapong and, therefore, the said incident could not have happened…Mr. Agyapong’s assertion can just not be true,” the statement said.
However, an obviously remorseful Kennedy Agyapong commenting on the statement on Adom FM disclosed that he intend to render an apology to Mr Kufuor in no time.
“I’m about to travel outside the country and Mr. Kufuor is also not in town, so when I return, I will go to his house and apologize to him,” he said.
He is of the view that if “if Mrs. Konadu Agyemang Rawlings can visit Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, then why then must he (Ken) say he will not go to President Kufuor’s residence ever again.”
Despite showing remorse over his accusations, Mr Agyapong maintained that the former president indeed walked him out of his house.
