‘I agree with my party’s decision’- Nana Addo

Presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2012 General Elections, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has said he cannot distant himself from his party’s decision on the creation of the new 45 constituencies by the Electoral Commission.

Speaking live from the studios of Pink FM, Nana Addo said: “My party has already come out with a statement on the creation of these new constituencies and I stand by it. My party cannot be at one side whiles I stand elsewhere,” Nana told Awudu Alhassan, the host.

“The way the Electoral Commission is conducting itself with this issue is quite mind-boggling. We have barely two months to an election and if you even look at the constitution it states that, the Electoral Commission has twelve months after population census before it could conduct such an exercise so why this rush? Nana Addo questioned.

“This is not the time to make this change because it has the tendency of bringing chaos in the country. It’s too near the elections,” Nana Addo advised.

When asked about Honourable Lee Ocran’s comment on his ‘Free Education Policy,’ Nana said, “As for Lee Ocran the least said about him the better. Is it not the same man who came to Parliament with a bottle of engine oil in protest to the discovery of oil at the Cape Three point?

On his message to the electorate and the Electoral Commission, Nana Addo said the EC should be fair to all parties no matter the colour so that anyone who loses will take it in good faith adding that machoeism should not be entertained in this year’s polls.
