Sampson Tangombu Chiragia, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Navrongo Central, has expressed his commitment to work assiduously with the people to maximize development in the area when the NDC returns to power.

He said the NDC has taken note of the developmental deficits in the country, particularly, in the Navrongo Central constituency and that, the first thing the party will do, when it comes back to power in 2020, is to help the people address such challenges in their communities.

“There are development challenges everywhere in the country and in this constituency. Everywhere you go there’s an occasion and plan for development being put together by the communities. But as we are coming back (to power) this year, when we come back, we will make sure to help the people develop their areas”.

Mr. Chiragia made the statement Friday when he spoke at the annual celebration of the Kologo festival by the Chiefs and people of the Kologo Traditional area.

He said he was aware of the numerous challenges the people of the Kologo faced, including the lack of a police station and other pertinent social amenities, and assured to get to the working board to address them when the NDC assume office in 2020.

Mr. Chiragia commended the people for maintaining peace in the Kologo area, despite difficult moments of misunderstanding and urged them to be law abiding since peace is one of the chief ingredients in community development.

“I know Kologo very well. And for the past years up to now you (Kologo) don’t have a police station and other amenities but we do well, we love each other, you sit and drink together and move together in peace and that is very good. Let’s try and be united. Don’t let the police tell you what to do. Be law abiding. We have been doing that and we can still maintain peace in Kologo”.

He added the NDC which is noted for being a peace-loving and development driven political party will always be ready and prepared to assist the people in their development initiatives so as to bring Kologo the needed development.

Mr. Chiragia extended warm wishes of Former President John Dramani Mahama to the Kologo Chiefs and people, saying “the former president would have loved to be here with us but because of his busy schedules (travels) he could not be here with us, but Insha Allahu, when he becomes president next year, he will be here to join us celebrate the festival”.

He later presented an amount of one thousand Ghana cedis (Ghc 1,000) to support the festivities, assuring more support for the festival in the coming years.
