President-elect John Dramani Mahama has extended his wishes to Ghanaians as they celebrate Christmas on December 25, 2024.
In a Christmas message shared on his social media page, John Mahama thanked Ghanaians for bestowing the mandate of the presidency upon him.
He assured that his presidency aims to build a nation that works for all, providing equal opportunities for everyone.
"In the Republic of Ghana, Christmas is a season of hope and renewed inspiration. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and the values He lived by, I wish to thank you, the good people of Ghana, for bestowing on me the opportunity to serve you as your President and Commander-In-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces.
"I wish to also reaffirm my determination to build a nation that works for all, a prosperous and democratic state anchored in the principles of freedom, justice, accountability, and equal opportunities for all," he said.
The Electoral Commission Chairperson, Jean Mensa, on Monday, December 9, declared John Mahama, the flagbearer of the NDC, the winner of the 2024 presidential election, with a total of 6,328,397 votes.
Dr. Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), received 4,657,304 votes.
Mahama's party, the NDC, achieved historic success by gaining a majority in Parliament.
