The Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia North Collins Owusu Amankwah, has denied claims he is a paid agent of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and working in the interest of the latter.

Prior to the delayed NPP parliamentary primaries in the constituency, the legislator was accused of being financed by the Ibrahim Mahama, younger brother of President John Dramani Mahama to work against his party.

But speaking to the issue for the first time on Abusua Nkomo hosted by Luther King Kwame Adinkra, Mr. Owusu Amankwah said it is absurd for members of his own party to tag him as a mole.

“These were machinations internally just to destroy me ahead of the competition. They were only saying all these things to destroy me and pave the way for themselves. They were making all these unsubstantiated allegations to make me unpopular in order to be given the nod”, he revealed.

According him, he has never had any contact with the said financier indicating that the first time he saw his image was in the Daily Guide Newspaper

“I don’t know Ibrahim Mahama the President’s brother. I only saw his picture on the Daily Guide but they have accused me of receiving sponsorship from him. It is not strange some of these claims are coming up because President Kufuor himself was accused of being a mole in the NPP which he led”

While observing that such comments challenge the fortunes of the party, he disclosed that he has over the period paid his dues to the party by diligently serving in various capacities as well as projecting the image of Nana Addo as flagbearer more than any other person.

“I was the representative of communicators of the 2008 Campaign. During the presidential primaries within the party, I abstained from voting because I realized they were all competent and therefore could not vote against the other”, he added.
