The incumbent General Secretary of the largest opposition political party, Lawyer kwadwo Owusu Afriyie alias Sir John claims he is the best person to be voted as chief scribe for the new Patriotic Party. He said nobody in the NPP today match up his courage, hard work and dedication in terms of the General Secretaryship He is therefore of the firm belief that the rank and file of the "elephant" family will not make the mistake of replacing him in the forthcoming National executives’ elections in 2014. Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie made his intention of contesting for second term as the General Secretary of N.P.P known on PLUZZ FM's Flagship programme "PLUZZ TODAY" hosted by Kwame Tutu. He said his good works follows him everywhere he goes. The vociferous and affable General Secretary debunked the long held perception and propaganda by the opposition National Democratic Congress elements and some New Patriotic Party members that the party is divided on ethnic lines. He was quick to add that the New Patriotic Party is one big Family with different opinions which makes it a strong force to reckon with. Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie further issued strong warning to persons issuing "illegal" guidelines covering the forthcoming elections of various stages. He disclosed that the party Headquarters shall issue comprehensive electoral guidelines on Friday to all party officers to follow. No Party officers must try to bend the rules; Sir John warned. He further advised that all party officers must endeavour to stick to the rules to prevent any acrimonious tendencies. Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie - bemoaned the situation where unfounded and unnecessary allegations are leveled against decent people in the name of electoral contest. He advised all persons interested in the various party positions to embark on issues based campaign in order not to discredit people. He gave the internal party elections time table as follows. Polling stations elections 30th November, constituency elections 14 December 2013, with exception of Eastern Region which will take place on 15th December. Also all regional elections shall take place on January 25th 2014 across the country; while the crunch national executives’ elections come off on 1st march 2014.
