The Minister for Communication and Digitalisation, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has expressed immense pride in the Ministry’s accomplishments, reflecting on the transformative strides in the country's digital landscape.

She shed light on how Ghana has emerged as a model nation in the digitalisation domain.

In a video shared on X by TV3 on January 3, 2024, Ursula-Owusu Ekuful said, “We have done more than we met. Girls in ICT, we planted seeds, thousands of girls and gave them digital skills. The infrastructure itself, cybersecurity, the startup ecosystem, digital initiatives that we have pioneered and seen through digital property addressing system, the linking up of all our databases, we built a formidable foundation. And I know that now Ghanaians realize that digitalization is indispensable to every aspect of our socioeconomic lives.

"And that is because of the work that we've done in the past eight years. We put more fibre than any other government before us. Cybersecurity, we were at 30%, 32% when we arrived. Now we are at 99.7%. And Ghana is a role model country. So, in all sectors, from digital skills, infrastructure, application services, training, capacity building, I am very proud of the work that we've done,” she said.

The minister is confident that her ministry has lived up to the task entrusted to them by President Akufo-Addo.

She said, “And I think every objective analyst would also recognize that the confidence that was reposed in us by His Excellency the President has been. We have lived very well up to it. It hasn't been misplaced.”

“And so, I'm leaving with my head held up very high. And I know that what we've done, whoever succeeds me in the ministry, can only build upon it and improve upon it for the betterment of the people of Ghana,” she concluded.
