The New Patriotic Party’s decision to suspend Dr. Wereko-Brobbey for two years has been described as a sad turnout by Dr. Arthur Kennedy.
Dr. Wereko-Brobbey was suspended by the National Executive Committee of the NPP upon recommendation from its Disciplinary Committee, for exhibiting behaviour that puts the party's image into disrepute. On the very day he was invited to be sanctioned, news broke out that some livid NPP supporters stormed the party headquarters to lynch him.
But the unfortunate situation was averted when the police intervened to calm the tension.
Weeks have passed, but Dr. Arthur Kennedy believes Dr. Wereko-Brobbey’s case could have been handled properly if tackled right. In an interview with Okay FM, Dr. Kennedy maintained that though he had some reservations to make, he believes this is not the right time to reopen old wounds.
“I am worried that the Disciplinary Committee has not made any effort as at now to punish those who tried to lynch Dr. Wereko-Brobbey,” he said.
