"I can prove rigged elections with evidence,"-Ohene Agyekum

Mankranso (Ash), Feb. 22, GNA - Mr. Daniel Ohene Agyekum, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has declared his preparedness to prove the rigging of the 2004 elections by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) with evidence, even in court.

He reiterated that the NPP manipulated and connived with soms Electoral Commission officials and therefore succeeded in recording wrong figures for the presidential candidates, resulting in the defeat of Professor Atta Mills.

Mr. Agyekum was speaking to journalists at Mankranso after he had held separate meetings with NDC faithful at Mankranso, Wioso, Pokukrom and Ahwerewam, all in the Ahafo-Ano South District, last Tuesday. His tour was aimed at sensitizing the party agents and delegates on electoral processes and encouraged them to be bold and vigilant to defend the party in all circumstances.

He admitted that the NDC as a party was not vigilant enough and that allowed the NPP to take advantage and that now that they have noticed their mistakes, they were going to take stringent measures to overcome the situation and cease the act.

The former Ashanti Regional Minister called on political parties to seek power honestly in order to avoid violence which can dent the image and the speedy development of the country.
