I defiled victim in a room not the kitchen - Accused

Accra, Aug. 17, GNA - A 26-year-old mason, Nana Ohene Boamah, on Tuesday sent audience at an Accra Circuit Court laughing when he admitted defiling a 14-year-old girl in a room and not in the kitchen.

According to Boamah the room in which the incident took place was also close to where the victim's uncle was.

Facing a charge of defilement, Boamah has pleaded guilty.

The court has however, remanded him into police custody but deferred his sentence to August 31 amidst prosecution's plea that the case was still under investigation.

Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sarah Acquah, told the court that the victim was a class five pupil and resided at Dansoman while accused lived at Mataheko.

She said Boamah was a friend to the victim's uncle and had been visiting the house.

In June this year, prosecution said Boamah went to the victim's house and met her alone in the house.

He took advantage of quietness and lured the victim into her uncle's kitchen and defiled her.

ASP Acquah said the victim kept the ordeal to herself until her uncle, the complainant, detected that she was pregnant and the victim let the cat out of the bag.

A report was therefore lodged at the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) at Dansoman where a medical form was issued to the victim for examination and Boamah was later arrested.

In another development, Isaac Donton, 27, has been remanded into police custody by the court for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old class three pupil.

Donton, a mechanic has denied the charge of defilement.

ASP Acquah stated that the victim lived with her grandfather at Dansoman but later moved to Sowutuom while the accused lived at Dansoman.

She said on August 10, this year, at about 12:00 noon the complainant sent the victim to Dansoman on an errand.

Donton saw the victim and lured her into a hotel and defiled her.

However, a Good Samaritan spotted the accused and the victim on their return and informed victim's grandfather.

Prosecution said it was conducting further investigations to establish the age of the victim.
