Embattled Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akyem North Constituency, Hon. Andy Appiah-Kubi has called the bluff of the indigenes of Agogo Zongo Community who rejected the rice and sugar he sent to them through the District Chief Executive, Hon. Francis Oti Boateng during the Ramadan.
According to the MP in a leaked whatsapp chat sighted by MyNewsGh.com, he has not made any promise to the Zongo Community and therefore called upon them to produce their evidence which suggests what they are claiming.
According to some irate youth who were present when the MP sent the items, they rejected the rice and sugar from the MP because he has not fulfilled the numerous promises he made to them in the roundup to the 2016 general elections.
“When the Hon. Andy Appiah-Kubi came to Zongo during campaign to the 2016 elections, he said the Zongo Communities have been deceived for long with rice and sugar and therefore, he is coming for the development of the Zongo Communities in the Constituency” Hamidu, leader of the Zongo Youth opined.
It was in the light of this that the MP promised the Zongo Community that, their main road will be asphalted within two weeks when he is voted into power.
According to Hamidu, the MP promised to give 100 bags of cement, 4 trips of sand and GH¢10, 000 to the Agogo Zongo Community to develop the only Islamic School in the Community, Mariam Bintu Islamic School.
“He also promised to pay the three teachers of the Islamic school who teach Arabic GH¢700 each per month and also get them mechanized onto the Government payroll system. Is been two years now since the MP made all these promises and he has not sent even a penny to us. It was in the wake of this that we also decided to reject the rice and sugar from the MP and demand for the fulfillment of his lofty promises” Hamidu stated.
But Hon. Andy Appiah-Kubi reacting to this indicated he never made such promises to the Zongo Community and they should therefore provide the evidence to justify these claims they are making on an NPP WhatsApp platform called ‘NPP BOARDROOM’
“Rose who purport to have been made such promises should give evidence of same. Please don’t underrate our political acumen. I didn’t make any such promises” – Hon Andy Appiah Kubi.
