Controversial lawmaker for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong says he is not bothered if members of his own party hate him over his criticisms about things that happen within the party and the country.

He states that his loyalty is first to the country before the party and is therefore unfazed by the hatred within members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over his approach to issues that he thinks are not being done right.

Speaking in an interview with an online radio station outside the country monitored by MyNewsGh.com, he maintained that once he criticizes the things done by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), he owes it a duty to do same when it involves members of his party.

“NPP people have a problem because they think you are one of them so if another is doing something you must not say it. I will say it if it is not good for the country…my country first before NPP party. If you hate me it is your own cup of tea, I am serving my nation. If NPP person does anything which is not right I will say it so will I do when an NDC person is involved”, he revealed.

He observed that some persons who feel embittered by the fact he speaks the truth irrespective of who is involved, are finding it extremely difficult to let the past slide.

He admitted he has stepped on so many toes based on his public commentary on happenings in the country but said it was in the interest of the nation he made those comments.

“I know I have stepped on a lot of toes, I try as much as I can to speak the truth and in the course of that you hurt people’s feelings and I know they can’t forgive you”, he observed.
