Director General for Public Relations of the Ghana Police Service (GPS) ACP David Eklu, has said his outfit does not know the popular policeman receiving applause for fixing roads and faulty traffic lights on roads.
Lance Corporal Simon Agbeko known to be with the Accra Regional Police command has won the heart of many Ghanaians with his humanitarian activities in the capital.
Albeit all these, however, the Director General for the Public Relations Office of the service where he is a member has declined knowledge of his activities.
ACP David Eklu when asked about the police officer and his activities, stated: “I do not know the policeman and this has not officially been brought to my notice”.
He first came to the spotlight after he was captured fixing a broken traffic light at Odorkor with his own money.
Reports show that Lance Corporal Simon Agbeko has become somewhat a folk hero after he spent days temporarily filling in some treacherous potholes which pose a death threat to drivers and passengers.
Simon’s quest to embarking on this road patching journey has seen him do some works on the Achimota overhead and the Abeka junction. The project, he says, forms part of his road safety campaign to drivers and motorists.
Being rather too impatient waiting for the city authorities to fix the potholes, Agbeko grabbed a shovel and started shifting gravel and road fill and moving it into the potholes.
