The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has stated that he is prepared to take the helm immediately if he is elected President in the December 7, 2024, presidential election.
Speaking at the party's final rally at Legon, dubbed the "Possibilities Victory Rally," on Thursday, December 5, Dr. Bawumia told the huge crowd of supporters that he does not need a honeymoon period and will hit the ground running by implementing his bold policies which are set to turn the country around on the path of prosperity.
"I don't need a honeymoon; I know what I want to do from day one in the presidency," Bawumia said to a thunderous response from the huge crowd. He added: "Give me the chance to transform this nation."
Presenting himself as a man of action, Bawumia laid forth a plan for economic change and promised to use the private sector's strength to spur investment and expansion.
"I have my own vision. I have my own ideas," he added. "I'm going to build on our (NPP) splendid record and transform Ghana, propel Ghana and unleash the forces of the private sector in Ghana to bring in the investment to transform this country."
Ghanaians go to the polls on December 7 to elect a President and 276 Parliamentarians to govern the country for the next four years.
The election promises to be keenly contested between the two biggest political parties - the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC).
The NPP is poised to win the election to continue with its transformative agenda, but the NDC has vowed to wrestle power to do what it describes as 'resetting' the country, accusing the NPP of mismanaging the economy.
