I don’t owe any person or group – Asenso-Boakye

Deputy Chief of Staff Francis Asenso-Boakye Deputy Chief of Staff Francis Asenso-Boakye

Deputy Chief of Staff Francis Asenso-Boakye has denied claims by the Elephant Youth Association also known as ‘OSONO’ within the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) that he owes them some money.

The angry youth on Wednesday, 27 November 2019 wielding placards and clad in red attires with red armed bands and head bands besieged the official residence of Mr Asenso-Boakye to demand for money owed them.

A member of the group, who spoke to Class News, said: “Mr Assenso is owing us and we are here for our money. We hear the government has given the money to him to give to us but he’s lying to us that he has paid the money to Mr Osono, but Mr Osono says he hasn’t received any money, so, we are demonstrating to collect our money.”

It took the intervention of the National Youth Organiser of the NPP, Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B to calm down the youth to avert any mishap.

Reacting to the allegation levelled against him, Mr Asenso-Boakye he does not owe any person or group of persons money, neither has the President given him any money due a group of persons which he has withheld as alleged.

“I urge the general public to disregard any news circulating on social media and other media portals that I owe the so called OSONO which is not an identifiable group within the NPP,” Mr Asenso-Boakye said in a statement.

According to him, the move is a well-orchestrated and vile attempt to cause disaffection and besmirch his reputation but he will remain focused in performing his duties to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the government.

The Deputy Chief of Staff said he has since lodged a formal complaint with the police.
