The Ashanti Regional Minister Mr Simon Osei-Mensah has revealed that since he was sworn into office about two months ago, he has been fueling his official vehicle from his personal account.
Speaking on Accra-based Adom FM, he indicated that he has to resort to this way of doing things because there is no budgetary allocation yet for this purpose and if he sits on the fence anticipating the amount to come before he begins work nothing will get done.
“For seven weeks now I have been fueling my official vehicles from my pocket because there is currently no money. We all admit that it was recently that the budget was read and not budget for all the sectors have been approved by parliament”. He disclosed.
Responding to concerns of NPP vigilante group Delta Force, he said they ought to be patience with the system because things need to go through processes before whatever their concerns are could be looked into.
“We are in power but the resources that need to accompany the political power are not in yet. No budget has been approved and as I said I am buying petrol from my pocket 7 weeks after being sworn into office as a minister”
“The president is doing well and has appointed his ministers and regional ministers who have been vetted and approved and now working which is unprecedented. We need to be patient with the government and allow the president to do his work and not bring a disgrace to the presidency and the party. Going forward we will find ways in dealing with the issues”, he added.
