The Former Minister of Energy, Boakye Agyarko says he has no plans of becoming a parliamentarian, citing a desire to continue "to build a stronger party in Krobo land".
Agyarko was booted out the Energy Ministry by President Akufo-Addo over a power purchase deal which critics said "makes no sense". In his statement, the President said Hon Agyarko's dismissal had everything to do with the controversial renegotiated AMERI deal.
Since then, there have been rumours that Mr. Agyarko is lacing his boots to contest the upcoming Parliamentary Primary on the ticket of the ruling New Patriotic Party for the Lower Manya Krobo constituency in the Eastern Region.
Reacting to the rumours, however, he indicated "I have never dreamed of such and haven't taken any decision to contest any seat. It's false information just to tarnish my image".
He added "There is nothing like that. My focus is to build a stronger party in Klo and that's all I seek to do".
He also debunked assertions that he was set to contest President Akufo-Addo in the party's next flagbearer race. He described the rumours as a complete fabrication by some faceless persons for mischievous purposes.
The former Energy Minister, since he was ousted from the Akufo-Addo government has begun initiating moves to break the political dominance of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Krobo enclave.
The NDC has over the years enjoyed massive support in three Krobo constituencies - Yilo, Upper Manya and Lower Manya Krobo in both parliamentary and presidential elections touting the area as part of its political world bank.
He has since been helpful to the party in the Krobo enclave with logistics.
