I haven’t received summons from Supreme Court – Sir John

The beleaguered General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, has said that he has not been served with any summons from the Supreme Court, but he will be in court on Wednesday to answer for his alleged contemptuous statement.

Owusu Afriyie, aka “Sir John” and a member of the NPP Communication Team, Hopeson Adorye, are to appear before the Supreme Court August 14, 2013, to explain alleged contemptuous comments attributed to them in portions of the media.

Sir John told JOY NEWS “I have been away from Ghana for the past 15 to 20 days; I have just arrived, so I’m not aware of any summon and so that is what I can say for now.”

He noted that if indeed he gets a correct copy of the alleged summons he and his lawyers will know how to handle it.

Meanwhile, Hopeson Adorye who had also been summoned by the court has accused the Daily Post Newspaper of mischief because the comments for which has been invited were made before the final touchline warning by the Supreme Court.

He said he and his lawyers are preparing for the Supreme Court, and he has all the records and evidence to show to the court on Wednesday.
