“If I tell you my constituency Chairman called me and insulted me which I have the recording will you believe it? I am patiently waiting for that day when I will meet with the party elders and playback the exact insults to them”, Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumbungu Ras Mubarak has revealed confirming a heightened tension between him and constituency executives.

MyNewsGh.com on Sunday, October 28, 2018 reported about a frosty relationship between the lawmaker and his constituency Chairman, Abubakari Issaka who were on accusation spree on Tamale-based North Star Radio.

In what appears to be a foretaste of what many should expect in the run-up to the 2020 polls, Ras Mubarak has vowed that he will not let the chairman have his way as its smacks of indiscipline in variance with the rules of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, his constituency Chairman is treading on a similar path that caused the party to lose the seat during the by-election in 2013 to the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) insisting it is his responsibility to put things back on track.

“These trivial things do not help in party building and they are the contributory factors that caused us to lose the seat sometime back. We had to come back begging some elders to help us win it back, we will not let the seat go back to position…We will not allow them to have their way so that the seat will go to the opposition. The party has its own set of rules…Can you believe that when President Mahama came someone posted a different parliamentary candidate’s posters in the hall? That is the level of indiscipline they have reduced our party into and we will not give them way. I have the responsibility to maintain the seat for the NDC. I have a pact with God, the party elders that we will not disappoint them. We will equally not disgrace the elders in the party. People have labored for the party, he was Constituency Chairman when the CPP won the seat…how many CPP members do we have in the constituency? These are some of the things people got fed up with and vowed not to vote which led to our defeat”, he disclosed during the interview on the Tamale-based radio station.

He also cited instances where constituency executives turned down a meeting with him to smoke the peace pipe for reasons best known to them but suspects the Chairman masterminded it all.

“As your MP, I move from Accra and come to Tamale and want to meet my constituency executives and they refused to meet me. It is not an issue about radio but the branch executive, when we meet I will tell them about the development”, he promised.
