Kennedy Kwame Akompreko Ohene Agyepong, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, has indicated that he will subject Ivy Heward Mills, the wife of the late Abuakwa North MP, to proper legal scrutiny when he appears in court.

According to the lawmaker, he has a recorded conversation between the late MP’s wife and ace investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas which suggests that the duo have been having an affair since 2015.

“I can prove to you that Ivy knew Anas since 2015,” he told Adakabre Frimpong Manso on ‘Me Man Nti’, a late afternoon talk show on Neat FM.

“If Anas thinks he is a good investigator then it’s a lie…I can do proper investigations more than him. Ivy just wants trouble for herself but I’ll show her in court that I’m not afraid of anyone. I’ll die for the truth,” he said.

Mr Agyapong explained that all that he was doing was for the youth and posterity, “because we cannot allow Anas and his mafia group - land guards - to take over this country”.

Agyapong, who is the CEO of Kencity Media has been summoned to court. Ivy Heward-Mills, the late MP’s wife thinks Agyapong just speaks without any evidence, but the MP says that he will prove her wrong.

“Ivy told the police that she was in her room when an unknown assailant murdered the late JB Danquah-Adu, but “Who owns the nightie soaked in blood” he quizzed.

Background

Ivy Heward Mills, the wife of the late MP for Abuakwa North, JB Danquah-Adu, has sued Kennedy Agyapong and eight others for defamation, demanding 50 million Ghanaian Cedis.

This follows some comments made by the Assin Central MP which suggested that the MP's wife was having an intimate relationship with the investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

The widow who considers Agyapong’s comments defamatory decided to drag him to court for redress.

Attached to the suit are Kennedy Agyapong’s Kencity Media, Despite Group Limited, Multimedia Group Limited, EIB Group, Joy Daddy Media Group, F-Giant Broadcasting Limited, Apex Media and Ghana Soccernet.

Apart from the money, Ivy Heward-Mills also wants the plaintiffs to apologise for the defamatory statements and the said apology to be approved by the court should “be published with the same prominence as the defamatory statements and publications on the various sites or stations where the statements were published and in the Daily Graphic and Ghanaian Times”.

JB Danquah-Adu, the Abuakwa North MP, met his untimely death when he was stabbed to death on February 9, 2016.
