The National Youth Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party(NPP), Sammy Awuku wants the editor of the Punch newspaper, Baby Ansaba to retract his recent false publication against him or face a lawsuit by next week.
Awuku said he expects the Journalist to quickly pull back the story, apologize with the same prominence given the story in the next few days or allow the law to deal with him.
“I’ll sue Baby Ansaba and use the damages to support Nana Addo’s campaign,”he adds.
Baby Ansaba made a damning report on Awuku in his Punch newspaper suggesting many scandalous remarks he made against the three-time Flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, when he joined Henry Quartey, the MP for Ayawaso Central constituency with other NPP kingpins at the launch of a campaign team at Alajo.
Although Awuku has issued a disclaimer on Kasapa 102.5 FM and several other platforms, he insists that he’ll move a step further to clear his name if Baby Ansaba fails to retract the story and apologize for same.
“These comments that he made, I’ve never made it in private or public. But nonetheless I have witnesses and I spent about 20 mins at the event and I spoke for about 3 mins in the presence of Sheikh I.C Quaye, Hon. Henry Quartey, Hon Ashietey, the Regional Chairman, Hon. Boye, the Ist Vice Chairman and others. But I don’t want to reach a point in the legal tussle whereby he [Baby Ansaba] will come and beg me for an out of court settlement. If Baby Ansaba stands by what he is saying I thank him.”
Meanwhile Baby Ansaba insists on the accuracy of his story put out, claiming that he won’t kowtow to the threats of Sammy Awuku on the publication.
