I’m Sad For My Country -Kwesi Pratt

The managing editor of the Insight newspaper Mr. Kwesi Pratt has bemoaned the fate of Ghanaians in the wake of finance Minister, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor’s statement published in today’s Daily Graphic that ‘our economy is back on track’

"Sometimes I am not sure I recognize the place I find myself living today, because our brethren gain political power through deceit and after that, rally with white exploiters to serve their own parochial interests, consciously neglecting those who voted them into power," Mr.Kwesi Pratt lamented.

He added that, he is sometimes saddened for mother Ghana because of the way her leaders allow themselves to be manipulated by foreign powers, the very situation the late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah sought to prevent.

According to him, the World Bank led by the whites told President Mills that former President Kufuor mismanaged Ghana’s economy but they were the same people praising ex-President Kufuor for his economic policies. He stated “the loan and grants the whites have been giving us are our own money they have been stealing through the sale of cocoa and gold.

The social commentator however urged the government that it is time we ignore some of their conditions that comes with the loans they give us and rule our way for the comfort of the Ghanaian citizens.

According to him, some of their conditions are the causes of privatizing government institutions and importations of certain items which are causing unemployment and killing our infant industries. “Mills lied to us because he promised to prevent all these things including fuel prices but for about six months now, he has done nothing.” He concluded.
