Leading member of the New Patriotic Party Gabby Otchere Darko has dismissed reports that he is undercutting and inciting Akyems against the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Gabby’s rebuttal follow comments by Dr. Nana Agyenim Boateng, President of the Concerned Youth of Ashanti who stated that the former Director of the Danquah Institute and the Executive Secretary to the President Asante Bediatuo of speaking ill and undermining the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
According to Dr. Agyenim Boateng all the negative things being said about the Asantehene by the two individuals have contributed to the Monarch’s anger.
His comments come after photos of some NPP executives kneeling before the revered Ashanti King to beg him at the Manhyia Palace emerged on Wednesday.
The executives including acting general secretary John Boadu and Ashanti regional Chairman Antwi Boasiako popularly called Chairman Wontumi are seen in the photos attempting to make peace with the Asantehene who was reported to have complained bitterly about certain actions by some NPP members against him.
But in a post on his Facebook page, Otchere Darko said he is not stupid to pitch his mother’s people against his father’s people.
“Am I so stupid that I would work against my own interest and turn one half of me against the other half by inciting my mother’s people against my father’s people; that I would bite the very hand that feeds us politically? Perplexing.”
Meanwhile, Starr News can confirm that the National Security Minister Albert Kan Dapaah Thursday evening stormed the Manhyia Palace to meet the Asante King.
The meeting was held behind closed doors but reports indicate that Mr. Dapaah vowed to ensure that there is lasting peace between the NPP government and the Asantehene.
