I petitioned against Edumadze for God, country and party- Appiah-Ofori

Accra,Feb 9,GNA- Mr P.C. Appiah-Ofori, Member for Asikuma/Odoben /Brakwa, on Thursday said he petitioned against Mr Isaac Edumadze because the man had sinned against God, the nation and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He said Mr Edumadze misconducted himself as a Regional Minister for the Central Region and should not be given the second chance. The member, who bears a membership card of the NPP, was contributing to the motion on the adoption of a report on Sheik Ibrahim C. Quaye, Greater Accra Minister Designate, Dr Richard Anane, Minister of Roads and Transport Designate and Mr Isaac Edumadze, Central Regional Minister Designate.

He said Mr Edumadze did not only engaged in corrupt practices but he also ignored laws and administrative procedures. Mr Appiah Ofori said he was doing his best as a Ghanaian so that he "will leave the scene with the conscience that we did our best" "We are all mortal. One day we will die. We need to do our best so that posterity will not misjudge us."

He said when Ghana was wealthy, foreigners migrated into it and were ever ready to take on menial jobs and prostitution.

"But now Ghanaians are rather engaged in such activities in foreign lands. Corruption has turned us into paupers and scavengers." He said the Appointments Committee did not offer him the opportunity he sought to make his case "but I think we are duty bound to protect the rights and resources of our people."
