The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has expressed uncertainty about whether Jubilee House, the seat of the Executive arm of government, still belongs to the state amid ongoing allegations of state capture.

During a submission on Onua FM on July 13, 2024, he stated that the ruling government has sold numerous state properties to private individuals, primarily party cronies, raising concerns about the integrity of state assets.

“I cannot really vouch for what truly is in the name of Ghana,” he said.

“Are you aware the Teshie shooting range is gone? The Prison Barracks is also gone under a PPP arrangement. So, I really don’t know, probably apart from Jubilee House, and even that I’m not sure. The issue of state capture is not a joke; everything is going,” he asked.

His comments follow the discontinuation of the sale of the 60% stake in some four hotels belonging to the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).

On July 12, 2024, SSNIT released a statement informing the public of the termination of the controversial sale.

“The Board and management of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) wish to inform the public that the process to divest 60% of SSNIT’s stake in the hotels has been terminated,” the board chair stated.

SSNIT has assured pensioners and contributors of its commitment to managing the affairs of the Trust “prudently for the sustainability of the Pension Scheme.”
