I received a message that my name was on the list - Police man furious after being turned away at voting centre

Charles Anamobila, a police officer, was left furious after he was turned away by Electoral Commission officials at the Adenta polling centre in the Special Voting exercise.

Anamobila told JoyNews that he registered for the exercise and got confirmation that he was indeed on the list with the Adenta polling centre as his station.

He stated that he travelled from Kumasi to Accra to partake in the exercise only to be told that he was not eligible to partake in the exercise.

“I had a program in Kumasi and I came this morning because of the Special Voting. On Saturday, I will be on duty. I registered for the Special Voting and it was captured that my name is there. I got here today only be told that my name was not on the list so I can only vote on the 7th.

“The annoying aspect is that the Presiding Officer was telling me that I should have come to confirm but I never heard from the media that when you register for the Special Voting, you have to come and confirm. If I come here on the 7th and my name isn't on the list, what are they going to do?” he quizzed.

The Special Voting exercise is ongoing across 14 regions of the country, with only Eastern and Western Regions missing out.

According to the Electoral Commission, both regions will have theirs on December 5.

The 2024 General Election is set for Saturday, December 7.
