I received only GHC8k for 2016 campaigns - Allotey Jacobs

Central Regional Chairman of NDC, Bernard Allotey Jacobs Central Regional Chairman of NDC, Bernard Allotey Jacobs

Aggrieved Central Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Bernard Allotey Jacobs has revealed how he was stifled resources to carry out an effective campaign within his jurisdiction in the run-up to the 2016 elections.

Recounting his bitter past on Accra-based Okay Fm, the educated fisherman said he was even denied campaign t-shirts and as a result and never had a single one at his disposal to distribute before the elections.

According to him, his administration was completely sabotaged by the Chief Scribe of the party, Mr Johnson Asiedu and that he is partly to blame for the defeat of the party in the Central Region that emerged from the 2016 polls with only four parliamentary seats.

“I am quitting political activism and I am not going to seek re-election. Asiedu Nketia undermined my Chairmanship knowing very well the region is a conservative region. Things he was supposed to do, he refused to do them culminating into the defeat of the party”, he revealed on the show monitored by MyNewsGh.com

Mr Allotey Jacobs said the only time he received money was when a campaign was launched at the Cape Coast stadium where he had been tasked to organize the event and was given GH¢8,000 by the National Organiser, Kofi Adams.

He revealed that was the only opportunity he saw cash and that he never received money from anyone stressing that the amount for only the organization of the campaign launch was even woefully inadequate.

Using swear words on those who claimed they gave him logistics for the 2016 campaign he said “not even a t-shirt did I receive from the national campaign office. In the interest of the party, I kept quiet. I am daring anyone who claims to have given me money or any logistics to come out and prove it At the campaign launch at Cape Coast Sports Stadium I received only GH¢8,000 for an organization which included transporting the people to and from various areas”, he added.
