In the organogram arrangement of the current government regarding the flow of information, Eugene Arhin is not the spokesperson of the President.

He is also expected to clear himself with Dr Mustapha Abdul Hamid on issues before he speaks to them- this offers the much needed clarification about the speculated ‘confusion’ on who speaks for the President of the republic of Ghana, Akufo-Addo.

While some hold it is Eugene Arhin who is Director of Communication at the Presidency, others say it is Dr Mustapha Abdul Hamid, the Minister of Information.

Taking his turn on Time With KKB with Kwabena Kyenkyenhene Boateng, the Dr Mustapha Abdul Hamid clarified that he speaks for the President.

“I am the Minister for Information and presidential spokeperson. I speak for government and the President.” He said in the interview monitored by MYNEWSGH.com.

“Eugene Arhin is Director of Communication (at the Presidency) but of course there are matters on which he also qualifies to speak, but before he speaks, he clears them with me.”

On “clearing with him”, he said “even ministers, deputy ministers, they clear. It depends on the strategy of the Minister for Information. There are questions that you ask me, I will call the Minister of Health and say ‘look, I want you to be the one to speak’ and he speaks.” Dr Hamid said.

He denied the existence of any conflicts of duties stressing ‘no.. no … no… no”.

This will be the second time in a month that the Minister is providing this clarification. Readers will recall MyNewsGh.com reported from Ho that the Minister of Information said the Communications unit at the presidency headed by Eugene Arhin was under the Information Ministry.

According to him, the Flagstaff House Communications unit is under the Ministry of Information and as such, both the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin and his deputy, Fatimatu Abubakar are part of the structures of the ministry.
