An Independent Political Analyst in the Ashanti Region, Dr Yiadom Boakye, has mounted a strong defence in support of the Zongo youth in the Asante Akim North constituency of the Ashanti region.

The youth rejected Ramadan gifts from their Member of Parliament for the area on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party, Hon. Andy Appiah – Kubi on Saturday.

In a thirty – six minutes viral video, some irate youth in the Zongo were captured reverting assorted items back to the bucket of a Nissan pick up, and making allusions to the effect that, they are not accepting the donations, and as such they prefer to go hungry even if hunger struck them to death.

The disgruntled youth in the community opined ” we don’t need this, come and fulfil your promises you made to us”

“If anybody feels he is man enough let him dare come forward” some transcript in the said video.

However, Dr Boakye Yiadom said the reportage served politicians of the likes of Hon. Appiah – Kubi right since many of his kinds have woefully failed to honour their parliamentary obligations.

Dr Yiadom explained that, though he does not wholeheartedly assent to the approach by the youth in the community, it behoves on politicians to know and appreciate that, the voting public has become very awaken and privilege to variables in the politics of the day and fast-growing enlightenment within the political class respectively.

The political analyst stated that the days where politicians will mount political platforms to issue empty and cosmetic campaign promises are over. He remarked that accountability has become the watchword, and is high time, people within the political sphere took a cue and act with a depth of touch which ought to be in tandem with contemporary politics in the country.

He emphasized that the embattled MP should quickly make amends by presenting himself to his people and calm tempers down before it is too late. The political analyst further retorted that since the area predominantly votes for the ruling government, the ripple effect of the situation will be adverse, and defy the general effects on the overall local politics of the constituency and the region.

He expressed optimism that, he will not be surprised to see many of such resentment by the electorates in other constituencies before and during the 2020 Polls.
