The driver of the bus at the center of the controversy at Effiduase-Asokore constituency in the Ashanti region has stated emphatically that the Member of Parliament [MP] for the area, Dr Nana Ayew Afriyie “never slapped” the District Chief Executive [DCE] for the area, Madam Mary Boatemaa Marfo.

Hakim as known in Asokore AMASS narrated that the esteemed lawmaker was meters away from where the incident happened – hence, the allegation was “untrue”.

According to him, the DCE in an attempt to approach him slipped and fell but was quickly helped back on her feet by onlookers – this he said was ‘twisted’ by the personal assistant of the DCE, Nana Yaw to fuel the already ire between the two.

“On that Friday morning, my chief driver told me that our MP [Ayew Afriyie] has rented a bus to convey party supporters to the durbar ground to meet President Nana Addo.”

“I drove to the district assembly park to wait for the supporters but the DCE who was not so happy warned me not to move the bus. So quickly the constituency chairman informed the MP about the issue who asked me to move the bus but the DCE insisted I should handover the bus keys to her.” Hakim said in an interview with Kumasi based Fox FM

“She [the DCE] was rushing to me and accidentally fell down. The MP was nowhere near her. I was shocked when I heard the news that the MP slapped her. He never did that and I can swear on the Holy Quran” He added

However, the constituency Chairman, Mr Osei Adiyiah had earlier rubbished the DEC’s claims – “The MP never ever slapped her. It’s all lies.”
