The suspended national chairman of the New Patriotic Party Paul Afoko has described as "risible" claims that he is being sponsored by the ruling National Democratic Congress to ruin the political chances of the NPP flagbearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Speculations are rife that Mr. Afoko has been given an unspecified amount of money to ensure that Akufo-Addo is not elected President of Ghana in the upcoming November 7 polls.
Mr. Afoko was suspended by the NPP’s National Executive Committee over alleged misconduct and a breach of the party’s constitution; a decision which was upheld by the party’s National Council.
But speaking on personality profile show – Starr Chat – with host Bola Ray Wednesday on Starr 103.5FM, Mr. Afoko stated that despite his suspension, he still believes in the ideals of the NPP.
“I am not in bed with the NDC…I don’t believe in their ideals that is why I am not a member of the NDC,” Mr. Afoko told Bola Ray host of Starr Chat Wednesday.
Mr. Afoko added that, he is, however, disappointed in the performance of the Mahama-led administration and believes that an NPP government would have performed better.
