Dr. Aaron Kumah, a senior lecturer at the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), has expressed disappointment at the silence of President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo over his silence on comments by Bryan Acheampong, the Minister of Food and Agriculture and Member of Parliament for Abetifi Constituency.

At a recent campaign rally, Acheampong declared for a third time that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would do whatever it takes to win the 2024 elections.

Dr Kumah stated that he was expecting the president to condemn the minister for his utterances.

“In fact, I was even expecting President Akufo-Addo to rebuke that gentleman (Bryan Acheampong) for such utterances because it has a lot of consequences,” oyerepafmonline.com quoted him to have in an interview on Oyerepa TV on August 15, 2024.

He further called on Electoral Commission, led by Jean Mensa, to condemn Acheampong’s remarks, arguing that such comments could destabilize the electoral process.

“EC should’ve come out and condemned Bryan Acheampong’s statement that ‘we will win power at all costs. They should’ve told him that, his statement would hinder their work. Because the people who have the power to control and declare election are not him (Bryan Acheampong).”

He urged all political actors to prioritize fairness and transparency during the electoral process, emphasizing that such efforts are crucial for maintaining peace in the country.
