The Deputy Volta Region Minister-Designate, Johnson Avuletey has refuted claims that he was sent to prison for some days.

Responding to a question asked him during his vetting at the Parliament’s Appointment committee on March 20, 2019, he explained that he was asked to appear before the Ho High Court on a Friday morning only to end up spending the rest of the weekend in prison since the Judge said he couldn’t hear him out until Monday, reason he was put in jail because the Court doesn’t work on weekends.

The Deputy Minister-Designate went on further to say he was remanded for a crime he knew nothing about, "I was called that I asked somebody to use somebody’s name to vote, so the Judge asked me whether I was liable or not, so I told the Judge I’m not liable, I don’t know what they are saying," yet his plea was not accepted and the Judge asked the police to put him in prison, he said.

According to Johnson Avuletey, his arrest was the plan of some evil persons who sought his downfall and planned to have him remanded on that Friday since they knew very well the Court won’t be in session over the weekend till Monday.

‘’It was a very bad Friday for me, but a very good one for those who planned to have him put in jail’’,

He said on Monday he was brought to Court and discharged subsequently since he was innocent.

Mr. Avuletey appeared before the appointments committee on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, to be vetted for the position of Deputy Regional Minister.
